How is Precision Skating judged?

Precision Roller Skating is judged by a panel of six judges from different states in the US, or from different countries at the World level. Teams perform for the judges, who change position from their seats down on the floor for other events, to seats higher up, to better see the intricate geometric shapes created by the teams.
Two scores are given by each judge. The first, Technical, is based on the difficulty of the tricks attempted by the teams. The second score is the Artistic score. This can encompass a variety of items including how uniform the team appears, the grace with which the team performs, as well as whether the team moves at high speeds or makes any mistakes.
The judges use scoring computers to input their scores which are then displayed on the scoreboard. In addition to scores, each judges ranks the teams in their ideal order from 1st to last. The final placement for the teams is based on the average of these rankings. For official scoring information on Precision Roller Skating, please visit the USARS website at: www.usarollersports.org
